Toxic Potato Cards

TOXIC POTATO CARD LIST

Below is a list of the cards that are included in Toxic Potato, Poison Potato, Rotten Potato, and Fatal Potato. Click on each card to get a more detailed explanation of how the card works.

Toxic Potato Cards

If you are holding this card when a HAZMAT card is played or the RADIOACTIVE card is picked up, you are contaminated and out of the game. TOXIC POTATO cards can't be discarded, they can only be passed using an action card or the "Share the Love" rule.

When you play this card, anyone holding a TOXIC POTATO is contaminated and out of the game unless a NO WAY or DETOX card is played.

Immediately show this card when you draw it from the deck. Anyone with a TOXIC POTATO card is contaminated and out of the game unless they play a DETOX card. You cannot stop this card with a NO WAY. Place this card randomly back into the remaining deck each time it is drawn.

Stop the most recent action card played in the discard pile, except for the RADIOACTIVE card. You can play this card at any time during the game, even when it isn't your turn. When played on a HAZMAT card, it protects everyone in the game that is holding a TOXIC POTATO. Be quick because if a DETOX card is played on a HAZMAT card first, the NO WAY will only cancel out the DETOX card, not the HAZMAT.

You can play a NO WAY on top of a NO WAY to make a YES WAY, and that can also be cancelled out by another NO WAY.

Place this card into the discard pile with any other card in your hand (besides a TOXIC POTATO). You can pass any card to the player of your choice. The extra card from your hand is sacrificed to pass the TOXIC POTATO. You do not get to perform the action on the extra card, so use one that you don't think you will need later.

Keep all TOXIC POTATO cards in your hand from being contaminated when a RADIOACTIVE or HAZMAT card is played. This card only protects the person that plays it. DETOX cards can be blocked if a NO WAY is played on top of them. If multiple DETOX cards are played, the NO WAY card only blocks the most recent DETOX in the discard pile, so make sure to play it quickly.

Look at any other player's cards and steal your favorite.

Pick any two players to randomly draw one card from each other. You can choose yourself to be one of those two players. After the first player randomly draws a card, they should set it aside until the other player has drawn. That way the second player does not draw the card that was just taken from them.

Play this card at any time to pick up the most recent card played in the discard pile. You can play this card even when it isn't your turn.

Change hands with the player of your choice.

Pass any card to player on your right/left, depending on the card. "The Hot Potato Rule" allows the player receiving the card to match the Pass Right or Pass Left to keep the card moving. You can't match a Pass Right with a Pass Left and vice versa. The cards must match exactly.

"The Hot Potato Rule" applies to the next player receiving the card as well. The Pass Right or Pass Left can be matched any number of times to keep the card moving around the circle.

Pick any player and name any card. If that player has the named card, they have to give it to you.

When playing this card, start by identifying who you are going to play the GUESS card against. Before you name the card that you are going to guess, give that person a chance to play a NO WAY card to block you if they have it. Once you have confirmed they are not going to play a NO WAY, you can guess what card you want from them. This will make sure that somebody doesn't just play a NO WAY after you have guessed a card from them correctly.

Poison Potato Cards

Check the first three cards of the draw pile and change the order. You get to pick up a card to end your turn, so make sure that you include your favorite of the three on top.

Look at the bottom five cards of the draw pile and take your favorite. You do not get to change the order of the other cards.

Place a TOXIC POTATO from your hand into the first five cards of the draw pile. You still have to pick up a card to end your turn, so make sure that you do not put it on top of the deck.

Block any action card played against you, and use it as if you played the original card.

For example, if somebody plays a STEAL card against you, you can play a MIRROR IT card. This will block the other player's STEAL card and you now get to perform the action on the STEAL card as if you played it. So you will get to pick another player and steal one of their cards. Once you have finished, the original player continues their turn.

Immediately show this card. Anyone with a TOXIC POTATO is out. NO WAY and DETOX cards do not protect you. Place this card into the discard pile.

You can use the POISON POTATO in place of the RADIOACTIVE card, but if you do make sure to place the POISON POTATO card randomly back into the deck instead of the discard pile to make sure the game will eventually end. If you are playing with the POISON POTATO and RADIOACTIVE card in the deck, we suggest discarding the POISON POTATO card after the first time it is drawn.

FATAL POTATO CARDS

Randomly take a card from the player of your choice, look at it, and place it in the first 5 cards of the draw pile. If you like the card, place it at the top of the pile so that you can draw it on the end of your turn.

Play this card to end your turn. You get to draw two cards instead of one. If somebody plays a NO WAY on this card, your turn is still over and you only get to draw one card.

Redistribute all TOXIC POTATO cards from your hand to the players of your choice, but only one per player. If they play a NO WAY card you have to keep the TOXIC POTATO. Remember you get to do this automatically if you have three TOXIC POTATO cards in your hand at once (see "The Share the Love" rule), so use it when you have two TOXIC POTATO cards or if you are trying to target one person specifically to pass your TOXIC POTATO.

Play this card to protect yourself from all action cards until your next turn. You do not get to draw a card to end your turn.

With the SKIP IT card, you are basically sacrificing drawing a card in order to protect yourself for a round. The game continues playing as if you weren't in the game. For example, a PASS LEFT/RIGHT card would pass right past you to the next player as if you weren't there. HAZMAT cards can't contaminate you until your next turn and neither can the RADIOACTIVE card. You are completely protected from all action cards until the next round, but you are still allowed to play BUY IT and NO WAY cards even during the round you are skipped.

Immediately show this card. Anyone NOT HOLDING a TOXIC POTATO is out. NO WAY and DETOX cards do not protect you. Place this card into the discard pile.

You can use the FATAL POTATO in place of the RADIOACTIVE card, but if you do make sure to place the FATAL POTATO card randomly back into the deck instead of the discard pile to make sure the game will eventually end. If you are playing with the FATAL POTATO and RADIOACTIVE card in the deck, we suggest discarding the FATAL POTATO card after the first time it is drawn.

ROTTEN POTATO CARDS

Whenever you play any card, you have to discard an additional card with it. You do not get to perform the action on the additional card, it is simply a sacrifice you make to be able to play an action card. This applies in any situation, even if you are matching a PASS LEFT/PASS RIGHT card, playing a BUY IT card when it isn't your turn, or using a NO WAY to block a HAZMAT.

You have to reveal the cards that you draw for the rest of the game. Show them to the other players and announce which card it is so everyone can hear.

You can only play one action card on your turn for the rest of the game. This does not apply to NO WAY or BUY IT cards that are not played on your turn.

If you draw a NO WAY card, you have to give it to a player on the other team. You can choose which player you are giving it to, but you have to give it to somebody that is on the survivor team.

You can't use any BUY IT cards the rest of the game. If you have a BUY IT in your hand, you can use an action card to pass it to a teammate or pair it with another random card to exchange for a new card (see "The Keep The Change Rule").

You can't use any ATTACK cards the rest of the game. If you have an ATTACK card in your hand, you can use an action card to pass it to a teammate or pair it with another random card to exchange for a new card (see "The Keep The Change Rule").

You can't use any SWITCH cards the rest of the game. If you have a SWITCH in your hand, you can use an action card to pass it to a teammate or pair it with another random card to exchange for a new card (see "The Keep The Change Rule").

You can't use any HAZMAT cards the rest of the game. If you have a HAZMAT in your hand, you can use an action card to pass it to a teammate or pair it with another random card to exchange for a new card (see "The Keep The Change Rule").

You can't use any OFFERING cards the rest of the game. If you have an OFFERING in your hand, you can use an action card to pass it to a teammate or pair it with another random card to exchange for a new card (see "The Keep The Change Rule").

You can't use any GUESS cards the rest of the game. If you have a GUESS in your hand, you can use an action card to pass it to a teammate or pair it with another random card to exchange for a new card (see "The Keep The Change Rule").

You can't use any STEAL cards the rest of the game. If you have a STEAL in your hand, you can use an action card to pass it to a teammate or pair it with another random card to exchange for a new card (see "The Keep The Change Rule").

You can't use any PASS LEFT/RIGHT cards the rest of the game. If you have a PASS LEFT/RIGHT in your hand, you can use an action card to pass it to a teammate or pair it with another random card to exchange for a new card (see "The Keep The Change Rule").
